Wilmas B n B is a very unique and charming, one of a kind, home away from home in the heart of Kosta! I have been there several times (ca 30 days), staying in a different room each time and I have never been disappointed!
I have stayed at many B n B`s during my lifetime and there are some favorites but what makes Wilmas my favorite above the rest is the heart and soul of this home, the hosts, Susanne and Patrik! They are very friendly, creative and very informed about the local history! They`re excellent ambassadors representing Kosta and they can offer suggestions of places to go and things to do!
During my times at Wilmas I have witnessed several occasions where Patrik has picked up or dropped off guests at the train stop in Lessebo for those who are traveling by train which is a very nice touch!
Each room is unique and charming in its own way with comfortable beds and a relaxing environment! Susanne will leave a wonderful breakfast basket by your door at an agreed upon time to start your day! The guests are welcome to have their breakfast in their room or you can join other guests in the cafe`downstairs!
There are beautiful paintings throughout this home that were, painted by Susanne who is a very talented artist! It`s a great place to relax, read a book or even write a book! I have met artists and writers who are drawn to this place AND many have been inspired by Patrik who has written 3 books of his own! Both Susanne and Patrik are always glad to offer tips or advice if asked!
They also have a wonderful little cafe`with uniquely assorted foods and many tasty treats at a very nice price! Two of my favorites are their Caesar sallad and shrimp toast and they also offer a special meal of the day, the food is always delicious! Their afternoon tea which is like no other is superb! This will also be your chance to taste Patrik`s famous clotted cream which he sells only to Michelin Star restaurants along with his one of a kind butter! Patrik learned to make his famous butter from his grandparents since his childhood and it`s no wonder that he has been nicknamed the Butter Viking in the Guardian Newspaper! His butter has also been served to the Queen of England upon her request on a couple of occasions! If you want to have the afternoon tea, you will need to book a time in advance.
Patrik is a humble person and not the braggadocious type but I`m so impressed that I feel compelled to brag on his behalf! On one of my stays I asked Susanne where Patrik was and she said he went to one of his clients, a French Michelin star restaurant that serves his butter in London. They wanted him to meet with a porcelain designer to create a special kind of plate for his butter! That says something about your product when a Michelin Star restaurant has a special plate designed for your butter! With Patrik and Susanne creating together in the kitchen, you will not be disappointed!
My first trip to Wilmas B n B was for 10 days, and at that time, I thought that would be my only trip to Kosta! The hospitality at Wilmas, the interesting people I have met, and the rest, relaxation, and peace of mind I have obtained staying there has had me coming back again and again!
Staying at Wilmas B n B is like staying with family members (the fun ones), like your favorite cousin, and I`m already looking forward to my next trip to beautiful Kosta!
