We were here for the second time. This time we went to the ELK when it was summertime instead of spring and trust me there is nothing like having a half of an island all to yourself. The location is also very good for hamradio - when there are no storms noise is at S0 on all bands.

This is paradise for ham radio operators and his family!
Remote, quiet location on the island.
You can go fishing (lots of pikes), take a boat or sup, harvest blueberries or mushrooms and after a whole exciting day you can sit in a sauna or in the front of the house and listen...silence (also on the air - background noise level is 0dB).
You may use 8 different antennas!
Perfect spot for ham radio competition or to catch some weak remote stations.
Owners are really kind and will help you if you need.

What a fantastic place! Location is set in incredible surroundings and just perfect place to 'get away from it all'. OH73ELK has everything you need for your stay and the owners are very welcoming and will be happy to help you with any needs. The views are breathtaking, and its so peaceful! We stayed here for 1 week in Feb and we did not want to leave! I spent some time in the very well equipped radio shack while my partner relaxed. We will certainly be going back! La ubicación de la casa, la propia casa y el equipo de radio son espectaculares. Se encuentra en un bosque situado en una isla en una inmensa zona con cientos de lagos... Se trata de un lugar idílico que inspira calma y tranquilidad, además de belleza mires donde mires. La casa está perfectamente preparada para habitarla y, en especial, tengo que decir que es muy acogedora. También tiene una sauna aparte, una zona para hacer barbacoas y un pequeño puertito en el lago... Mejor ver las fotos de su web para hacerse a la idea, aunque incluso así es difícil hacerse a la idea de lo realmente bonito que es todo.

En relación con la radio, qué decir de la posibilidad de hacer radio sin el ruido electromagnético que tenemos habitualmente en los entornos urbanos... Con unas antenas perfectas bien instaladas... Recientemente han adquirido un micrófono de mesa y actualmente están instalando nuevas antenas. Por lo tanto, parece que el shack de radio va a continuar evolucionando y mejorando. Buen trabajo!

Por último, me gustaría hacer una mención especial a Alex y Raisa que han ofrecido su ayuda en todo momento. Antes, durante y después del viaje estuvieron pendientes de todo preguntando por cualquier necesidad que pudiera tener. Mi viaje coincidió con las primeras nevadas y Alex encendió la calefacción en remoto para que la casa estuviera caliente cuando yo llegara! La comunicación fue fluida en todo momento y respondieron rápidamente a cualquier pregunta.

Ha sido una experiencia preciosa y espero poder volver a OH73ELK en el futuro con mi familia.

We came to this beautiful place from the US with my family. It offers not only a well-equipped radioshack with eight (!) various antennas but much more activities for a family vacation. In the summer, the water in the lake is warm enough for swimming, and the daily temperature can reach 86 degrees. Fishing is excellent; you can use the boat, but we didn't need it. It was the season of blueberries, and we picked lots of them within 50 feet of the cottage. The cottage stands in the middle of the forest, surrounded by blueberry and lingonberry bushes. The mushroom-picking season did not start yet, but we still managed to pick some. Besides, you can just walk around the island in the mixed forest of spruce, birch, and pine trees.
Big thanks to Alex and Raisa for the hospitality and wonderful experience!

Ein toller Urlaub im Juni 2022, in einem sehr schönen Ferienhaus eingebettet in der Natur Südostfinnlands mit der Möglichkeit zum Saunieren, Baden und Grillen.. Beste Amateurfunkausstattung und super Bedingungen. Vielen Dank an Raisa und Alex von Dani und Michi DL5LCR

Шикарное место отдыха и релаксации. Прекрасное место для радио любителей. Место чрезвычайно необычного отдыха от чрезвычайно гостеприимного хозяина. Озеро, лес, птицы, закаты. Счасиик есть.
