Väldigt rogivande och varm atmosfär

Ein altes Herrenhaus, einsam auf einer Insel mitten in Stockholm, wunderschönes Ambiente und nur mit einem Boot zu erreichen. War vor 3 Jahren dort, da wurde die Eisenbahnbrücke renoviert, da war es mit dem Auto auch möglich - aber nur kurz. |Innen ist alles sehr heimelig, vor allem im Stock oben, unten im Parterre ist es eher feudal gestaltet. Wunderbare kleine Insel, auf der man auch herum spazieren kann, ein zweites Gebäude ist für Gruppenreisende angeschlossen.|Wie auch immer, beim nächsten Stockholm Besuch werde ich es wieder buchen!

My daughter of 22 and I stayed here in August 2011. Everything we thought it would be. The location as the only building on a small island in the middle of a river in the heart of a huge city is amazing, be prepared for disbelieving taxi drivers from the train station. ||Not hard to find with the address, just need to know how to get onto the island. ||The building is an antique wooden farmhouse of charm and character, full of porches and sitting rooms, decks and lawns, a few cabins in the rear that might be for rent. ||We two shared a small upstairs room. The upstairs has its own kitchen, and lots of space, perfect for cooking yourself. The included buffet breakfast downstairs was good, farm food to us, and the sunroom for dining in front overlooks an apparent duck pond complete with lily pads, quite picturesque, really a small cove with small beach. Picturesque and casual describes the entire place, but in the heart of the metropolis. The folks working there ranged from young women to older men, all very friendly and helpful and casual. ||Linens drying on the line under the trees kind of farmhouse.||The site, though, is under two bridges, one older and apparently historic, as is the whole island. This bridge is a huge construction site while we were there and a temporary road serves the inn. There is also another modern bridge passing over the island. So some might find this distracting, we did not. Across the way is a view of a yacht club or marina, and dramatic view up the river. We like the contrast between the island and the big city around it. The bathrooms upstairs are tiny but modern enough and adequate. We did not see much of the lodgings downstairs but each floor has it's own large living and dining area. ||We used it as a calming base for our explorations of Stockholm, the Gamla Stan, and much of the city. Arsta Holmar was very peaceful to return to. The nearest T-Bana station (underground rail) is about 15 minutes walk through a mixed commercial/residential neighborhood, with large avenues and a decent selection of restaurants and shopping. || Not a tourist area, typical of any large city neighborhoods. The guesthouse has a station wagon that will bring your luggage from the street, but easier just to meet the cabs at the street and convince them there really is somewhere to go over the water. They can drive in. It's not too far to walk, but not with luggage.||Non of the latest modern, but a real beauty if you like peace and history. ||A lovely highlight of our trip through Scandinavia.

After traveling all through Scandinavia with our baby and toddler and having very little sleep due to the midnight sun and a lack of black out curtains, I was so relieved to arrive at Arsta Holmar Guesthouse! It is quiet and tranquil on it's own private island in the middle of Stockholm. They have black out shades that kept the room dark enough for the kids to sleep long into the morning. They have a wonderfully large common room and a great balcony in the amazing house from the 18th century. Johan and Maria who run the guesthouse are a sweet young couple who are eager to make your stay is a comfortable one. Breakfast is simple, yet plentiful and the room was large enough for our family of four. Despite it being a slight trek by bus or metro from the central train station to the bridge that connects the island to the mainland (near Hornstull), it is well worth it and I would stay there again!!!
