This is a clean and well-run hotel at the center of New Kiruna. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was that our room did not get cleaned on the second day even though we requested it. Standard rooms are reasonably appointed, but not large.

This hotel has a nice aesthetic, but is somewhat dysfunctional.
The first thing we noticed was the entrance was hard to find. We parked on the street (30 minute parking) as the 2 handicap places were being used. We walked the parameter until we found the entrance. The staff were very pleasant and professional, but had to tell us to drive on the walking path to unload our luggage, because there was no other place to do this. Apparently the architect was great with aesthetics but function, not so much. Perhaps not a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright (via Sullivan). We had to park across the street in a lot with no cleared path to walk to get to the hotel. As residents of a northern city, we were surprised. See photos.
The lounge, bar and restaurant are beautiful, but I found actually sitting on the couch uncomfortable. Breakfast was very nice.
In our room, we laughed and were surprised by the smallest fridge we'd ever seen. Hard to store our food in. You might think it saves electricity, but a square design would be what you want to achieve this. I think this was again all about aesthetics and not function. Oh, and the place to hang bowls was too close to the shower - they got wet.
The beds were fabulous and would make returning worth it. Very comfortable.

Hotellet är väldigt fint, extra stort plus för den stora loungen. Här finns gott om sittplatser, vedeldad kamin och bar.

Fina rum som har allt man behöver, det ingår inte städning på "automatik", utan det behöver man meddela receptionen om kvällen innan. Att inte städning görs varje dag är inget som berör mig, dock så skulle jag önska att soporna töms samt att handdukarna ses över iallafall varannan dag.

Där finns dock lite för Scandic att jobba på gällande kommunikationen mellan receptionen och restaurangen. Om man vill boka bord i receptionen så blir man hänvisad till restaurangen, när man sedan pratar med restaurangen så blir man hänvisad till receptionen....

Men generellt så hade vi en trevlig vistelse hos Scandic Kiruna, trots lite kämpande med bordsbokningen....?

+ : bra beläget mitt i nya centum , ett bra tips : ät middag i hotellets restaurang, biffen där var riktigt god med pommes och bea sås.
+ : fin takvåning, otrolig utsikt.
+ : helt ok rum , dock var elementet iskallt trots minus 14 grader ute...

- : vid ankomsten fick vi inget välkomnade av hon i receptionen, vi fick ingen information om frukostens tider, ingen info om hotellet överhuvudtaget...

- : personalen i frukosten kunde ingen svenska, och knappt någon engelska !
Stort minus, stor besvikelse.
T e x Ingen av personalen fattade att det var slut mjölk i ena kaffemaskinen.
Kanske dags för lite svenska utbildning innan anställning ?!

So far this hotel is lacking in many ways. Number 1 we were given zero information at check in. After the person at reception checked us in and handed us our card I waited for her to tell me ANYTHING. And all she said was “ok, you’re good.” She did not tell us about the restaurant or the breakfast times, nothing about the sauna or gym…
We went to our room which has no closets or dressers or drawers. We are visiting a location with subzero temperatures which means we have packed many layers and there are only 3 hangers on a stick attached to the wall to hang them on or 6 small hooks next to a mirror.
We made due and created piles around the room and will apparently just live out of our suitcases.
We went down to the restaurant at 6:00 for dinner on our first night only to be told that the restaurant is fully booked until after the new year, we cannot order food at the bar, and there is no room service. Does this mean they do not have enough tables to feed all the guests dinner in the hotel Or are they taking reservations from outside people which causes guests to eat elsewhere.
I have been in this hotel for less than 4 hours and I am already beyond dissatisfied.
We booked what is supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip through a travel agent and this hotel has put a big damper on things so far. I will be alerting my travel agent to all of these issues and advise that they do not use this hotel for future clients.

Best place to stay in Kiruna. Walking distance from bus stop. You can take bus to other cities and to airport from the same bus stop. Breakfast was good and room was clean as well.

Stranded here after a train company left us here without helping us getting accompdation. Even though they were fully booked the let use wait for half a day in their lounge and in the end came trough for us, in pressuring the train company to find is a place to sleep.
Great service and patience, with very clean and inviting lounge area.

This place exceeded all of our expectations. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Unbelievably comfortable bed. Sauna and spa so clean and the views are incredible. Fun night cap to head up to the skybar and enjoy a drink. And then the breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had, will be thinking and remembering about it for a long time - so many different options, all such high quality and taste! We cannot wait to return!!
